Mission and Outreach

"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophesy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our   serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness."

- Romans 12:4-8

St. Francis Episcopal Church is a mission driven church. Below are descriptions of some of our outreach work. You can get involved too!

Outreach Ministries

There is a continual ingathering of non-perishable food items as well as household items which benefits the Franklin Community Food Pantry at St. Francis. Ingathering baskets are in the Foyer as well as a list of most needed items on the bulletin board. A volunteer delivers the items to the Food Pantry the 2nd Sunday of every month. Please support this wonderful ministry!

Change Jars

St. Francis collects loose change each month to donate to a worthy cause.  The donations will benefit many different types of groups and peoples.  If you would like to donate, please find the jars located on the table in the Foyer, near the coffee pots in the kitchen, and on the table during coffee hour.

FLOC (For the Love of Children)

FLOC began servicing area children in 1980, and has grown into an industry of volunteers who are passionate about caring for children who are neglected and abused, children in foster care and children in need of community resource.  Each year St. Francis works with FLOC for their annual Christmas For Kids Program to bring Christmas to more than 1800 children.  In most instances the gifts provided by FLOC will be the only presents these children will receive.

Nursing Home Visits

In the local community St. Francis works with several Nursing Homes to provide visits Communion, Caroling, donations, etc.  Canterbury Court located on 450 N. Elm St., West Carrollton, OH 45449 and Tapestry Senior Living located on 8683 Clearcreek Franklin Rd, Springboro, OH 45066 to name a few.  If you are interested in joining this worthwhile endevour please contact Mary Harris, Outreach Chairperson.

Back to School Supplies

Many families cannot afford standard school supplies. St. Francis works with Pennyroyal Elementary School to make yearly donations of  pencils, markers, crayons, colored pencils, folders, binders, notebooks, book bags, glue sticks, or other school supplies.  This is a great way to help enrich the lives of area students and the schools are always very thankful to receive new schools supplies.

Blessing of the Pets

The annual Blessing of the Pets happens on the front lawn of St. Francis Episcopal Church after our worship service in October.   It is a brief liturgy in honor of the patron saint of animals (and all nature), Francis of  Assisi on this his feast day.  A long-standing tradition in the Anglican Communion, the blessing of animals is especially fitting for St. Francis.  As a donation for that day we accept newspapers, blankets, towels, and treats to donate to the Animal Shelter in Warren County.

Veterans Day Celebration

Every year in November, St. Francis likes to honor our Veterans in our area with a special meal during our coffee hour after our service.  All Veteran family and friends are invited to this special event!
